What is the Customer Service of the Los Angeles Department of Social Services?

The Customer Service Center of the Los Angeles Department of Social Services (DPSS) is a telephone call center that provides expert assistance to those who need help applying for benefits or have questions about renewing their Medi-Cal. The center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays, to provide support and guidance. Although physical offices are temporarily closed, DPSS is still open and ready to serve you. You don't need to visit any of the DPSS offices in person to apply for or renew your benefits.

If you need to apply for benefits, you can visit the DPSS GetCalFresh website. If you have received your renewal package, you can mail it or upload it to the DPSS website. Reevaluations of Home Support Services (IHSS) were suspended for 90 days, but DPSS social workers will contact IHSS beneficiaries to conduct evaluations by phone and conduct wellness checks. Visit the DPSS website or their social media pages for up-to-date information, including the actual issuance dates of emergency appropriations.

If you've lost your job or just need help, apply for benefits online by visiting the DPSS website. If you are applying for CalWORKs, General Relief, Refugee Cash Assistance, Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants, or CalFresh, submit all required documentation along with the application and the DPSS will waive the application interview.
